upper level training cycle for applied arts of sculpture


This training cycle aims to prepare specialists to carry out their professional activity in companies and shops of an artisan and artistic nature, undertaking tasks involving: ornamentation, renovation, maintenance, and restoration of architectonic media; production of objects of atrezzo and ornamentation for the cinema, theatre and television, as well as for installations and other ephemeral media, for example scenographic installations; production of games or toys, and elements for popular festivals; reproduction and execution of pieces of sculpture.


GOALS

  • Analysis and development of the basic processes of realization, by means of a variety of techniques, of volumetric objects in the different fields or areas that are characteristic of the Applied Arts of Sculpture .

  • Understand and know how to use systems of creation, production, reproduction and diffusion of prototypes .

  • Evaluation in a suitable manner of the plastic requirements in a work design proposal in order to be able to obtain an optimal result in the design proposal .

  • Research the forms, materials, techniques and creative processes related to Applied Arts of Sculpture.


    ACADEMIC STRUCTURE

    Studies are organized into two academic years in which the following subjects are undertaken :

  • History of Applied Arts of Sculpture.
  • Artistic drawing and Colour .
  • Descriptive Geometry.
  • Computer Assisted design.
  • Materials and Technology.
  • Artistic Sculpture in Rock Shop.
  • Artistic Sculpture in Wood Shop.
  • Artistic Forging Shop .
  • Casting and Modelling Shop.
  • Volume and Projects .
  • Job Training and Orientation.

    The total number of class hours the student is required to realize is 1.675 hours, plus 50 hours of practical on-the-job training .

    Upon termination of these studies, the student is required to do a 150 hour Final Course Project (FCP) .

    DEGREE

    Once the student has completed the Upper Level Training Cycle, with a positive evaluation of the Final Course Project, he/she will be granted the Degree of Higher Technician of Plastic Arts and Design in Applied Arts of Sculpture.

    These studies are described in Royal Decree 2483/1994 of 23 December in BOE number 32 of Tuesday 7 February 1995.
