One of the objectives of the School is to be in contact with the cultural
and economic environment, and this goal is met through a variety of
channels.
One of these is the execution of projects in collaboration with different
businesses and institutions. These projects are developed within the
ordinary academic activity, in training courses, or in final course
projects with work in which both students and teachers intervene. This
is a very important area of work for the School as it means putting
the students in contact with the reality of the professional world.
The participation of students in contests where they can present projects
they have developed in the classroom is also a frequent occurrence.
Another area of relationship of the School or Art and College of Design
with its cultural environment is the exhibitions that are prepared during
the final courses, where work developed within the centre itself is
exhibited, or significant proposals by professionals.

City Hall of Valencia: Design of poster and catalogue for the "X
Trobada de música del Mediterráneo" (academic year
1989/90)
General Secretariat of Penal Institutions of the Department of Justice:
execution of a "Naval kit" (Spanish ship La Niña) and
training courses in modelling for instructors in penal institutions
(academic year 1991/92)
Commission "V Centenary", exhibition of Latin-American
posters and graphic design courses given by Latin-American professionals
of renowned prestige (academic year 1991/92).
Palace of Music. Opera workshop, participation in the design of the
sets and costumes for the presentation of "Las Bodas de Fígaro"
(1993), "Don Pasquale" (1994) and "La Revoltosa"
(1995).
Local Ministry of Culture, Education and Science of the Generalitat
Valenciana, preparation of scale models for the exhibition "Public
School Architecture 1995".
Ford Motor Company Spain: execution of ceramic murals (1995).
Istobal Company: Installation proposal in which the cultural and
spatial concept of the academic year traditional petrol station was
modified for the "Funfair" (1994/95 academic year).
Gec-Alsthom: Manufacturer of railway material: study for a toilets
cabin for trains that would be accessible for disabled persons and persons
with limited mobility. The "Once" (Spanish National Organization
for the Blind) and the Red Cross also participated, (academic year 1994/95).
Red Cross, project for the realization of graphic arts and printing
workshops for disabled persons, (academic year 1995/96).
Municipal Transport Company of Valencia, project for optimization
of bus interiors and urban bus stops (academic year 1995-96).
Iberdrola, "Iris" project for an electrical vehicle (academic
year 1995-96).
Peniscola Municipal Board of Tourism, project, execution and assembly
of graphic material for the permanent exhibition of the Peniscola Museum
of the Sea and production of a didactic video on fishing activity in
this town.
Valencia Institution of Modern Art (IVAM): design and preparation
of Teaching Workshops between the years 1993 and 1998 for the exhibitions
of : Naum Gabo, Kurt Schwtters, Andy Warhol, Francis Picabia, David
Smith, Eric Satie, "The Surrealist Object".
Railways of the Generalitat Valenciana, project for the redesign
of train units BW3600 carried out between the years 1997 and 2000.
Collaboration with the General Direction of Public Health, from the
year 1997, in the design of preventative campaigns of the local Ministry
of Health of the Generalitat Valenciana, for the following subjects:
sexuality and pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and solar protection.
Institution of Biomechanics: collaboration in training activities,
assessment, documentation and technical assistance (academic year 1997/98).
"Hidra" Silicon Pistol Project, carried out in collaboration
with the University of Lapland (Finland) and the Gesamthochschule Kassel
(Germany), (academic year 1997/98).
Textiles Royo: collaboration in the application of a new fabric,
"Tencel", in fashion design, with the objective of presenting
it in the Cologen International Trade Fair (academic year 1997/98).
Company El Belga, project and execution of a prototype of a bicycle
frame denominated "Vértigo" for velodrome competition,
(academic years 1996-97, 1997/98).
Teaching Workshop "The Medieval Retable" in collaboration
with the General Direction for Cultural Promotion of the local Ministry
of Culture and Education, and with Fine Arts Museum of Valencia (academic
year 1997-1998).
Archeus Company, design project for office furniture (academic year
1999-2000).
Foundation for the Protection of the Industrial Historical Patrimony
of Sagunt, project for logo and signs, (academic year 2000-2001).
Teaching Workshop "The Human Face", in collaboration with
Valencia Regional Council - Cultural Centre La Beneficència and
the local Ministry of Culture and Education of the Generalitat Valenciana
(academic year 2000-2001).
Teaching Workshop "The Landscape", in collaboration with
the Courts of Valencia, with the Sub-secretary of the local Ministry
of Culture and Education of the Generalitat Valenciana, and Fine Arts
Museum of Valencia (academic year 2001-2002).
Collaboration with projects for treatments and redesign of second
hand clothing with the objective of raising funds for the third world,
in collaboration with Fashion Group and Diocesan Charities of Valencia
(academic years 1999-2000, 2000-2001).
I, II, III and IV "Fashion Catwalks in the Carmen Quarter",
in collaboration with the local Ministry of Culture and Education of
the Generalitat Valenciana, the former in collaboration with the Consortium
for the rehabilitation of the Historical Centre of Valencia, and the
III within the framework of the Biennial of Valencia 2001.
Citizens' Platform "Save the Cabanyal", proposals of packaging
and placards for balconies, (academic year 2000-2001).
Solera Company, project for the creation of electrical components
(built-in electrical control boxes, and exterior lighting and garage
lighting), (academic year 2000-01).
Association of Residents of the Carme Quarter (Valencia), project
for communication on the reality of the quarter, (academic year 2001-2002).
Consortium of the Valencia General University Hospital, project for
image of the name (academic year 2001-2002).
AWARDS
"Experimenta" environmental Fair in Frankfurt, 1993. Out
of more than 500 works that were presented, 77 were selected; eight
were from the MDCCL team, whose designs came out of a project on recycling
and recuperation of objects that had been developed in our Centre.
National Ceramics Award 1995 "Villa de Madrid" awarded
to the student Amparo Almela.
International Biennial of Manises 1995. Generalitat Valenciana Award
and Valencia Regional Council Award to the students Teresa Guerrero
and Javier Monsalvatje, respectively.
Valencia Institution for Youth - IVAJ. Design of the Guidebook entitled
"Carretera i manta". First prize awarded to the students José
Manuel Giménez and Sergi Giménez García.
National Award for young images, awarded by the Ministry of Culture
and Education in 1995, to the students José María Rosa,
María Bleda and Ana Raquel Leyva.
CEVISAMA 96. First prize for industrial design and technological
innovation awarded to the student Francisco Javier Sanchis Gandía.
"Handitec 96" International competition for the technology
of services for disabled persons, Paris 1996. Third prize awarded to
the students Carlos Rivilla Bastante and Carlos Morellá Pérez.
Fourth competition for Tailors and Couturiers of the Comunitat Valenciana
1996. First prize in the areas of Festival, Ready-to-wear, awarded to
the students Carlos Haro, Alicia Mata and Ana Pericás.
Fifth competition for Tailors and Couturiers of the Comunitat Valenciana
1997. First prize in the area of Festival awarded to the student Encarna
Roig Colomer.
ADI Medals 96: students José Mª Terradas and Sergio Campos
were awarded the 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively.
Biennial of young creators of Mediterranean Europe, Turín
97. Selected as representative for fashion design for the Country of
Valencia, the student Teodoro Garrido.
National Award for young images, of the Ministry of Culture and Education
96. First prize to Sergio Belinchón for his work entitled "El
Circo".
National Competition for Creative Formica, organized by the company
FORMICA ESPAÑOLA S.A.. First prize to María Álvarez
Collado, and the third prize to Jessica Bataille.
Murcia Youth Award 96, organized under the auspices of the President's
Council of the Region of Murcia. First prize to the student Valentín
Soler Martínez, and the Consolation prize to the student Carlos
Haro Zurriaga.
National Ceramics Competition "Alcora 1997". First prize
to the student Joan Esquerdo Ivars for his piece entitled "Paisaje".
