Students undertake studies at our School with the goal of preparing themselves to work in a profession related to design and creation.

Their studies at the School consist of a period of academic training, with a set minimum duration of two years, for the Training Cycles, and three for the Upper Level Studies in Design, and in addition a period dedicated to the preparation of a Final Course Project (FCP), the duration of which cannot be more than one academic year.

ACADEMIC COURSE AND SUBJECTS

The academic course begins on the 1st of October and finishes on the 30th of September.

In order to be able to undertake these studies, students must register for the corresponding subjects for each academic year, once the pertinent entrance examinations have been successfully completed (consult Entrance).

Having registered for a subject gives the student the right to take the corresponding classes and to be attended to by the instructor within the scheduled class times, and within the spaces, or outside activities determined by the School. Registration in a subject includes the right to be evaluated in the two exam periods for the academic year (June and September). A student is only allowed to register for any given same subject twice, which means that he/she has a maximum of four possible evaluations in order to pass the subject.

The student has the right to renounce his/her registration in any given subject (drop the subject), and in order to do so must notify the Administration of the School in writing before the 15th of May of the same academic year. This renunciation does not allow for the refunding of any of the academic fees for tuition.

PROMOTION TO THE FOLLOWING COURSE

Once the academic year has finished, the student can be promoted to the following course as long as he/she has not failed three or more subjects. There are also certain instances of incompatibility or prerequisites between subjects, which means that if the student has certain subjects that have not been passed or are pending, then the student cannot register for other subjects in the following course level whose content is related to or has as a prerequisite the successful completion of the material in the previous subject(s). (Consult Resolución de la Conselleria de Cultura i Educació of 16.7.2001).

DIPLOMA

There is a time limit for completing studies in the School, which is 6 academic years. In exceptional cases this limit can be extended for one more academic year, upon prior petition to the Conselleria de Cultura i Educació.

Once the student has successfully completed the FCP, the student can request the corresponding Diploma.

  • For the Training Cycles the student is granted the qualification of Higher Technician in the corresponding area of specialization.

  • For Upper Level Studies in Design, the Higher Diploma in Design in the corresponding area of specialization is granted, which is the equivalent of a university diploma.
